In this book, the same trust brings Warren Parish and Detective Katelynn Stacey together after 7 long years and it seems that they'll have to forget whatever happened in their past this one time and help one another to find this light of truth because this truth will set them free once and for all, Join this journey of Destined to Death with them.
My Review:
Of late I have been exploring other genres, literally moving out of my comfort zone of Thrillers and mystery. I am slowly trying to test waters across nonfiction, paranormal fiction, horror, and fantasy. This book comes under paranormal fiction and I really wanted to see how it would interest me.
The book looks huge, all of 370 pages, and I was
thinking it is going to be a lengthy read! But once I started, the story
whizzed past as I kept turning the pages trying to figure out the mystery.
Destined to die is surely a
compelling paranormal thriller that has all elements needed for a book of this
genre. Though I sort of guessed the killer, the twists kept coming one after
another; especially the one towards the fag end left me dumbstruck!
49 mysterious murders of
innocent children, Detective Kate being marked as the 50th target, abnormal
happenings in town, gore, souls seeking revenge, Satan, uncommon relationships,
betrayal and more is what makes this book a nail-biting one.
An Indian author giving
“Hollywood-sounding” names for the characters is a good spin. All the
characters live up to their role and there is nothing you will find amiss until
you realize where the story is being led to!
So many people lose their near
and dear ones all because one man decided to change his destiny. After all, one
man decided to take revenge! The ending was a bit was a shocker as I didn’t
expect the story to take that turn!!
The cover is a perfect fit for
the story and conveys the book's essence.
The line from the introduction
makes complete sense now that I read it again after completing the book – “ You
are destined to die, but where you want to end up, completely depends on you”.
A riveting paranormal murder
mystery that will have you turning the pages faster than you can imagine and
take stake you through the sinister scenarios of the netherworld.
Enjoyed reading this book by Varun Mathpal and looking forward to more books from the author.
