I have read
quite a few books by this author, so I was really looking forward to this one,
especially because the title and blurb immediately caught my attention. I had a
feeling this was going to be a good read, and thankfully, it was!
The prologue
itself pulled me in, and what followed was a roller-coaster ride of thrill,
suspense, secrets, and twists.
Mel, Liv,
and Jennie discover a dead body inside a storage unit, along with more than £1
million in cash. Instead of doing the sensible thing and going to the police,
they make a very different choice: they keep the money. And, as you can
imagine, things quickly take a terrifying turn when someone starts threatening
them and demanding the money back.
What follows
is a messy web of family secrets, lies, murder, betrayal, and of course, a
missing fortune. As Mel starts digging deeper, she uncovers more about her
family and the shocking truth surrounding the dead person. And just when I
thought things couldn't possibly get any more complicated, another twist would
come along!
I really
enjoyed the whole finders keepers situation at the heart of the story
because watching characters make one terrible decision after another is always
entertaining in a thriller! I enjoyed
reading how that one decision gradually turned into something much bigger and
darker.
The mystery
surrounding the money, along with all the family secrets, kept me completely
invested. The characters were messy in the best possible way, and there were
plenty of moments when I found myself wondering who could actually be trusted.
The tension kept building, giving the book that addictive quality to keep
reading!
I
particularly enjoyed the multiple POVs. The transitions between the different
perspectives were handled smoothly, and the continuity was faultless. The
writing style worked really well for the story and kept me engaged throughout.
As with most
thrillers, there were characters I loved and others I couldn't stand. The author has made up really good characters
and woven them into a plot so well that it felt different and unpredictable.
And that
ending… what a way to finish!
In all, I
thoroughly enjoyed this one. It was a gripping thriller with an unusual
premise, plenty of suspense, complicated characters, family secrets, and twists
that kept me guessing. A cleverly plotted, twisty thriller that kept me hooked
right till the end.
Go for it. You will absolutely love this one if you are a fan of mystery/thrillers and books that keep you hooked till the end.
