The Silent Witness | Book Review

Review of the Vikas Trivedi and Smitha Agarwal's book - The Silent Witness

Book #16 of 2024

Neha and her mother's relocation to Deadwood marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, with Neha enrolling in a new school. However, their fresh start takes a dark turn as threatening notes begin to surface mysteriously, hinting at hidden dangers and secrets lurking beneath the town's surface.

The narrative kicks off with an engaging premise, drawing readers into Neha's journey of adaptation and the relatable emotions that come with starting anew. Yet, as the plot progresses, the mentions of the town's secrets and the emergence of threatening notes become repetitive. Disappointingly, these intriguing mysteries are eventually abandoned, leaving loose ends in the storyline.

Furthermore, the latter parts of the book suffer from a lack of clarity, making it challenging to follow the narrative cohesively. The ending feels a little unclear.

While the inclusion of multiple points of view adds depth to the storytelling, the book's quick pace doesn't fully compensate for its shortcomings. Overall, it was an average read.
