The land of ascetics and poets, call centers and Silicon Valley aspirants, smiling street children selling flowers, smartly dressed professionals traveling in overcrowded trains, celebrities, and their star kids...India! A land of many dreams and tales, some big, some small. Here are 3 such stories, which will touch your heart and leave you wishing that the happy endings of these quirky tales were always true.
This is my
second novel from the author [the first one being - Children of the end ] and I was quite eager to read this one. The title
is quite intriguing and that’s another reason I picked up this book.
India is a
land of diversity and taking out three characters from the ocean of diverse
people gives an anticipation of how the contents would be is the feeling you
get after reading the blurb. There are 3 stories in this book and each one is
beautiful in its way.
The stories
are simple and in these lines of narration we can see so much that is happening
around us, the things we see and hear every day. The common things that go
unnoticed or no one wants to interfere with are written so beautifully.
We can read
about social evils like sexual harassment even when it is the stare and smirk
of the men that causes uneasiness in women and of course, rape, women
inequality, and child abuse in these stories many of which do keep taking place
in society.
All three
stories are short and touching. The storyline is interesting and the simple
narration makes the story flow seamlessly. The characters and situations make a
connection with us and some places are very moving.
I am not
able to choose a favorite among the three as all three of them are unique in
their way.
The endings
will give us a spark of joy and make us wonder how nice it would be if people
in such situations had this kind of happy ending!
The cover is
nice and fitting for the theme and so is the title!
In all a
very nice read, a quick one that you can finish in a couple of hours or a read
that will help you come out after a heavy read.
A 4/5 star
read.
