My Review:
In the past
couple of years, the world has turned topsy-turvy due to the after-effects of a
pandemic. Though we have heard about the impact and felt it, even more, this
book gives us the statistics and details on how the pandemic has affected every
part of our country and its impact on the various sectors of the nation.
A collection
of 29 research papers by various academicians and experts from various
disciplines have addressed the effects of the pandemic, both at a national and
regional level.
Though this
book is targeted at a professional and academic audience, this is a good book
to read and relate to if you are looking to understand the impact in a better
way.
While some
of the papers sound a little technical, others are very simple and easy to
follow and grasp the points.
Not only do
they talk of the negative impact of the pandemic and its effect on several
sectors in the country, but it also the positive effect the social media had on
helping the people find relief materials and hospital beds, etc during the
testing time, especially during the second wave.
Apart from
the various topics/sectors, the impact of covid on mental health was an eye
opener. It shows in what ways the mental health has been affected – not only to
the people who contracted the virus but also the school children/adolescent
children were affected and the mental equilibrium getting disrupted.
The pandemic
has drastically affected the nation’s health and economy and this book has
research papers on all these to give a clear idea of what happened and how the
nation can overcome these effects in the coming future to attain balance.
The various
other topics include its effect on socio-economic conditions, problems faced by
migrants, women during the pandemic, downfall in several sectors and how the
various businesses got affected, blended learning- the new normal, etc.
Throughout
the book, there are graphs/sketches/tables for a better understanding of the
topic discusses.
In all, this
compilation of research articles provides much-needed information to the
professionals and academic audience and is also an information trove for those
who want to have a better understanding of the effects of this pandemic.
